COLLECTORS’ EDITION
As a celebration of the 25th anniversary of the first showing of the TV series of Brideshead Revisited, Granada issued in 2006 a Collectors’ Edition of the whole series on DVD with the help of the original producer, Derek Granger. It includes a number of extras, namely : commentaries on three of the episodes by Anthony Andrews, Jeremy Irons, Diana Quick, Nickolas Grace, Derek Granger and the two directors Michael Lindsay-Hogg and Charles Sturridge; out-takes; a documentary on the making of the series; and galleries of stills. I find that the visual quality is much the same as that of the original DVD issue, an observation that might be accounted mildly disappointing. On the other hand the value of the extras is striking.
