A Companion to Evelyn Waugh’s Brideshead Revisited

Technical Note

I designed this site to look best in Internet Explorer 4 (and now 5 and higher). I have found however that the site is fully viewable in other modern browsers. I should like to know if readers find problems with their own browsers, giving details. The site may look good in more ancient browsers because I did not use the latest HTML when I first created the original site in 1999. In fact, web designers will consider this site extremely primitive now. I have not attempted at all to update it in a foolish attempt to pander to modern ideas of attractive presentation.

I prepared the site with the Times New Roman font in mind. You may change the main font for the text (in Internet Explorer) to your preference by clicking on Tools/Internet Options/General, then clicking on the Fonts button and changing the Web Page Font. Some of the proportions of my pages may suffer in some fonts, but to change them is your prerogative.

I created the site with a screen size of 1024 x 768 in mind, but it will be satisfactory at 800 x 600. If you choose Full Screen you will get a clearer view of a few of the pages, though most information pages are of chapter length and require scrolling.

I myself view the text in Medium Size. To adjust to your own preference (in Internet Explorer) click on View and then on Text Size.
